With Mt Field Retreats fully booked exclusively for our group, you’ll enjoy the perfect balance of comfort, creativity, and connection.

From the golden hues of Australia’s only deciduous beech (fagus) glowing on alpine ridges, to forest floors alive with extraordinary fungi, Mt Field sets the stage for an unforgettable photography journey. Sunrise and sunset shoots among the fagus, daytime macro and focus-stacking sessions in lush rainforest, and hands-on editing workshops ensure you capture this spectacular season at its very best.

Guiding you through it all are Tasmania’s leading fungi and landscape photography experts Tim Grimsey, Ben Wilkinson, Francois Fourie, and Geraldina Dijkstra – each bringing years of experience, local knowledge, and creative insight. With two instructors dedicated to support small groups of six, you will receive loads of one on one time to support your learning.

Take ten brand new cabins at Mt Field Retreats, incredible food, a welcoming group of like-minded photographers, and the magic of Mt Field National Park—and you have the ultimate fungi and fagus photography adventure. Tasmanian Photography Tours will ensure every detail is crafted to maximise your learning and images.

Spots are strictly limited—cabins will fill fast so get in quick and BOOK NOW.

What You Will See

Tasman Island is spectacular—but the adventure doesn’t stop there.

Departing from Eaglehawk Neck, you’ll explore the dramatic Tasman Peninsula, capturing the ever-changing moods of the Tasman Sea. Marvel at the highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere, and keep your camera ready for marine wildlife including seals, albatrosses, sea eagles, and even migrating whales.

This isn’t just a cruise—it’s a rare chance to combine adventure, wilderness, and world-class photography at the very edge of the world.

What You Will Need

  • A DSLR, Mirrorless camera or Phone Camera – only if you want – feel free to just enjoy the cruise
  • Fully charged camera batteries
  • Memory card(s)
  • Lenses – If you need advice we will guide you
  • Tripod – not allowed or needed
  • Good enclosed footwear  as it will be wet and a little slippery
