Tasmanian Photography Tours are teaming up with Pennicott Wilderness Cruises to deliver Sunrise Cruises to Tasman Island – offering you the rare opportunity to witness this iconic location at first light.

There are sunrises, and then there is sunrise at Tasman Island. Departing in the dark, you’ll journey across the waters of the Tasman Peninsula, guided by the moon and stars, before watching the day break over sheer sea cliffs and the towering silhouette of Tasman Island. It’s a front-row seat to one of Tasmania’s most dramatic and unforgettable dawns.

Along the way, you’ll capture the changing moods of the Tasman Sea, witness the highest sea cliffs in the southern hemisphere and have the chance to photograph marine wildlife including seals, albatrosses, sea eagles and whales during migration season. This is more than a cruise—it’s a rare opportunity to combine adventure, wilderness, and photography at the very edge of the world.

Details:

Cost: $450 per person – includes cruise and transport
Time: Tours run for approximately 3 hours
Departure: The cruise starts at a different time each week to ensure we arrive on time for day break. We will send you the details when you book, but expect somewhere between 4 and 5 am.
Travel Times: If you want to drive yourself and meet us there, guests should allow 90 minutes to drive from Hobart to Port Arthur. It is important that guests check in on time to allow for pre-cruise briefing.
Transport options. Transport is included in your booking fee. Tasmanian Photography Tours will pick you from Hobart city in our comfortable shuttle bus, drive you to the destination and then return you back to the collection point in Hobart. If you would like to meet us there, that’s fine, but please be on time.
Dates: Sunday mornings from April to August
Important Information: Make sure you dress warmly for the cruise – large jackets will be provided but warm jackets, scarves, beanies and gloves are recommended. Don’t forget your camera, extra batteries and lots of space on your memory card.

What You Will See

Tasman Island is spectacular—but the adventure doesn’t stop there.

Departing from Eaglehawk Neck, you’ll explore the dramatic Tasman Peninsula, capturing the ever-changing moods of the Tasman Sea. Marvel at the highest sea cliffs in the Southern Hemisphere, and keep your camera ready for marine wildlife including seals, albatrosses, sea eagles, and even migrating whales.

What You Will Need

A DSLR, Mirrorless camera or Phone Camera – only if you want – feel free to just enjoy the cruise
Fully charged camera batteries
Memory card(s)
Lenses – If you need advice we will guide you
Tripod – not allowed or needed
Good enclosed footwear as it will be wet and a little slippery
Warm clothing, it will be cold out there. This needs to be a warm jumper and pants, beanie, gloves and a good jacket

Flexible Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans can change, so we’ve designed our cancellation policy to be as fair and flexible as possible.

Illness (including cold/flu symptoms): Cancel 24 hours prior to departure with no fees. We’ll happily transfer your booking to another date or provide a full refund. Just let us know 24 hours before departure so we can offer your place to someone else
Other cancellations: Bookings are fully flexible up to 24 hours prior to departure. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the tour will be charged at 100%
Third-party bookings: If you book through a travel agent, their own cancellation policies apply
Minimum Numbers: In the rare instance we have large cancellations we reserve the right to cancel your booking up to 24 hours prior to departure. If this occurs you will receive a full discount
