Feast & Focus is your excuse to eat like royalty, shoot like a pro, and explore landscapes that look like they’ve been filtered by nature itself. Come with us and celebrate the winter flavours, colours, wildlife and stories of Tasmania’s East Coast in the Off Season.
Taste whisky, wine, cheese, beer, crayfish and oysters fresh from the source, then wander down to those impossibly turquoise waters and fire-orange rocks that make the Bay of Fires named ‘Best Australian Beach’ for 2025 by Tourism Australia.
You’ll spend one night tucked away in a cosy cabin at Freycinet Lodge, then two nights in a waterfront room at Panorama Hotel in St Helens that comes complete with natural lagoons and more birdlife than you can point a lens at: pelicans, swans, egrets, herons, sea eagles and a couple of curious ducks who think they own the joint.
Mornings start with those crisp winter conditions photographers dream about. We’ll chase long exposures, dramatic skies and moody ocean swells along the Bay of Fires secluded beaches and hidden coves. Editing sessions will be held in the Easy Tiger Cinema, on the big screen no less!!
Winter is Tasmania’s best kept photography secret — and we’re letting you in on it.
The days will be dedicated to exploring the region. We will take you to meet passionate local makers and shake the hands that make the beers, sip high quality small batch whisky and get acquainted with the type of seafood that ruins supermarket prawns forever.
- Sip single malt whisky at Waubs Harbour Distillery
- Blow the froth off a cheeky pint at Bicheno Beer Co
- Sample boutique wine at Devil’s Corner
- Taste artisan cheese at Pyengana Dairy
- Slurp freshly shucked oysters at Melshell Oyster Shack
- And yes, we will visit the Lobster Shack. Enough said!
Evenings are when Tasmania shows off and this is when we’ll meet the nocturnal locals at East Coast Nature Worlds, Devils After Dark. You will get to photograph the Tasmanian Devil up close and safely hang out with the cutest (and loudest) carnivores on the island.
Tassie has more stars than Hollywood and at night, if the weather spirits are kind, you’ll have a chance to gaze up in awe at the galaxy and capture the Milky Way in all its winter glory. If you’re lucky, maybe even an Aurora, because Tasmania likes to keep a few surprises up her sleeve.
This isn’t just a photography tour. It’s a winter feast for the senses and the lenses, handcrafted by locals who know where the best shots and the best bites are hiding. It’s a tour designed to warm your palate, your creativity and your soul.
Welcome to the Off Season - Bring your appetite. Bring your camera. Leave room for dessert.
